Wales Mountain Trip
We are definitely doing the trip on 6 December.
This is where we are going, http://www.landcraft4x4.co.uk/drv_events/index.html
I have booked the day for us for a adventure plus day, meaning a bit more extreme, but not scrapping your car silly. We need a minimum of 10 cars and so far we have 3 G's, 1 90, 1 Disco 3 and 1 Amazon.
The G's are Russ, Spider and me and the Amazon is Chillypepper.
Come on guys we need 4 more cars please. I will shoot a deer for enough sausages for the best hot dogs you have ever tasted as well!
Nice one Christo.
Here’s some pic’s from the Bala area to wet your appetite :) :)
Best thing about this it's all on private land, no tree hugging ramblers
If you do see any Spider they are trespassing and are therefore fair game
Ok you can book me in on that one, will travel up Saturday night in a motel, email me on ianwatson158@mac.com for more info.,
piggy, mark come on boys !
price ? with discount, also Bala is quite a way from where the hotel is ?
I would be very happy to add onother G...
Can it be done without damaging my bodywork?
G
ok then, count me in...
Got 2/3 more coming aswell, called them this morning
And another though not G should this time, should be interesting to see where my road bias tyres and english 4X4 engineering get me
I cannot believe I am about to write this on this forum after my quite blatent teasing regarding Rangies but this is where I will miss the simplicity of a 460 against all the computers and air suspension thingies, just the thought of all that muddy water in the electronics makes me get very twitchy and protective of the overdraft increasing cost to fix :D

You also forgot the broken air suspension!
Spider1V
the TD6 is going to cope much better than the P38's...
Sounds great but unfotunately I can't make the 6th. Please organise another if it's a success though as I'd have loved to come along. Have fun.

Ah yes but think of all the money you have saved NOT running a G for 2 years. Enough to buy a mint, fully loaded Disco
Anyway excellent turn out (eventually) and variety is the spice of life and all that. Looking forward to it :D
Can I convice myself to drive my 460 all that way? When do you need to know by?
Only got AT's on it and I prefer the 460....... I'll let you know ASAP.......I think its likely, only current fly in ointment youngests 12th on the 5th. Now thinking bigger present! Dads got to pop out!
Or BRITHDAY TREAT!!!!!!!!
He might see through that, but worth a try!

Mines got AT's, not worried :D
and why not bring the 12yr old, my 11yr daughter may well come along
OK I'm looking at this. Is Bangor Travel lodge the nearest? Need LPG also I think I filled up to the South of Snowdonia or be brave and Camp!!!
Just checked LPG at Trawsfynydd. Back tomorrow.
Nearest Travel Lodge is probably Oswestry.
Or how about:

If it's camping, where would that be located, ie how far from off road site?
Peter Perfect the only site I could see that is all year is this one http://www.bwch-yn-uchaf.co.uk/ its 5 minutes from Bala and hence a short drive from the site. Dont know if its any good but I would have thought it would be similar to the one near Glyn Ceriog that you all stayed in last time.
Might pack the heavy weight sleeping bag just in case it snows
We are still looking for a room...
Wouldn't it be nice to be together with the group?
Who is staying @ the nice place??
G
It seems like there are a few of us that want to stay in the area the night before....We have to travel 500 miles to get there...so we are looking for 2 beds on saturday. Maybe it's nice to meet up and have a meal or a drink the night before the trip?
Very tempted but worried about scratching my shiny new alloys!
I'm on :D
What about camping in the area. I think I'll be up there about 21:00 Sat pm So can you just pull up and pitch next to a quite road or where are the woods you mentioned....sorry can't run to 5* but happy to meet in Pub if can camp near by :D :D
Is it pay on the day?
Looking forward to this...but if I scratch the 463 someone will have to talk to my wife!!!
Oh yeah...there's also LPG in Bala....1/2 price motoring don't you love it!
I take you're pming details??
The nearest budget Travel Lodge or Premier Inn type accommodation is Oswestry. If anyone does choose to stay over in one of them let me know. I’ll meet up for a beer / curry / meal. Don’t expect clubbing to 6am, it’s a bit of a one horse town but hey who cares
Would it be ok if a buddy of mine joined in with a T3 synchro?
It's from the right factory 8)
Russ I think I'll be there.
Whats a T3 ????????
Oh got it VW !!
I would like to say yes, but it is already a question with the RR, if he can go where a RR can, he is welcome. Keep in mind that we are going into the mountains, so low range will be a must.
its a lifted, turboed, low geared, fully locked T3.
but it is 2.4 meters high...

What!!!!!!!!!
I really don’t want to be shown up by one of those
Near perfect 50:50 weight distribution, diff locks, pretty light
Nice
Pencil me in.... or did I say that already...
Thats ok then, with a T3 Syncro along with PP's Nissan at least theres 2 decent trucks to tow out all the stuck LR's, RR's and G's
Too fcuking right son !, I feel one of my videos coming on, just got to think of the right music for it now!, tom jones? Shirley bassey? Aled jones? , nah sod it Motörhead
The owners of the Kinmel Arms will be joining us on the trip, http://www.thekinmelarms.co.uk/index.php
Tim said he will do us a special deal, but they are a bit expensive. It is however the best restaurant, in fact a 5* in the area. The pub is about a mile from my house, right on the edge of the estate, and by an old anti-tank training area where the more adventurous can have a go at 2nd world war anti tank banks.
If anyone needs more affordable accommodation just ask, or just bring a tent, the woods are big enough to house the whole club in tents.
