We are definitely doing the trip on 6 December.

This is where we are going, http://www.landcraft4x4.co.uk/drv_events/index.html

I have booked the day for us for a adventure plus day, meaning a bit more extreme, but not scrapping your car silly. We need a minimum of 10 cars and so far we have 3 G's, 1 90, 1 Disco 3 and 1 Amazon.

The G's are Russ, Spider and me and the Amazon is Chillypepper.

Come on guys we need 4 more cars please. I will shoot a deer for enough sausages for the best hot dogs you have ever tasted as well!

Nice one Christo.

Here’s some pic’s from the Bala area to wet your appetite :) :)

Best thing about this it's all on private land, no tree hugging ramblers

If you do see any Spider they are trespassing and are therefore fair game

The owners of the Kinmel Arms will be joining us on the trip, http://www.thekinmelarms.co.uk/index.php

Tim said he will do us a special deal, but they are a bit expensive. It is however the best restaurant, in fact a 5* in the area. The pub is about a mile from my house, right on the edge of the estate, and by an old anti-tank training area where the more adventurous can have a go at 2nd world war anti tank banks.

If anyone needs more affordable accommodation just ask, or just bring a tent, the woods are big enough to house the whole club in tents.

Bala is 35 miles from the hotel and I will give you prices later today, I think Tim is still between the covers.

I'll see what accommodation in bala is like, need to have a word with a few pheasants in that area in any case. I'll try to get there tomorrow.

Re: Wales Mountain Trip

The pub in Bala £70 for a double room and £70 for a twin. They only have the two rooms, but check out these. http://www.balawales.com/bed_&_breakfast.htm
The phone number for the pub is 01678 530205, but first come first serve and they have some show in the village that weekend, so it might get busy.

I'll still go there tomorrow.

Fantastic, it will be great to meet you.

I am just wondering where all the locals are. Are there no more G's in Wales?

So far we have an American, Belgian, South African, Englishmen, but no Welshman and for that matter no Irish either.

Come on guys.

And another though not G should this time, should be interesting to see where my road bias tyres and english 4X4 engineering get me

I cannot believe I am about to write this on this forum after my quite blatent teasing regarding Rangies but this is where I will miss the simplicity of a 460 against all the computers and air suspension thingies, just the thought of all that muddy water in the electronics makes me get very twitchy and protective of the overdraft increasing cost to fix :D

Sounds great but unfotunately I can't make the 6th. Please organise another if it's a success though as I'd have loved to come along. Have fun.

Ah yes but think of all the money you have saved NOT running a G for 2 years. Enough to buy a mint, fully loaded Disco

Anyway excellent turn out (eventually) and variety is the spice of life and all that. Looking forward to it :D

Re: Wales Mountain Trip

Peter Perfect the only site I could see that is all year is this one http://www.bwch-yn-uchaf.co.uk/ its 5 minutes from Bala and hence a short drive from the site. Dont know if its any good but I would have thought it would be similar to the one near Glyn Ceriog that you all stayed in last time.

Might pack the heavy weight sleeping bag just in case it snows

PM me your budget, but I would phone the Pub If I were you. It is £70 for the night, or come to the Kinmel Arms for a bit more luxury. It really is worth it.

Re: Wales Mountain Trip

It seems like there are a few of us that want to stay in the area the night before....We have to travel 500 miles to get there...so we are looking for 2 beds on saturday. Maybe it's nice to meet up and have a meal or a drink the night before the trip?

You won't scratch them, unless you want to...

If you're that worried then you could maybe use my extra set of wheels, just an option.

Re: Wales Mountain Trip

Great!

There are camping sites in the area, but all of them seems closed. There is one that seems to be open, but I'll let you know tomorrow.

I've been there today, so any further advice please ask.

I have to pay them on Monday, so please transfer the £40 to me, or 1st class me a cheque, I'll send you my details.

Welcome on board, I hope it will be a hell of a ride!

Re: Wales Mountain Trip

The nearest budget Travel Lodge or Premier Inn type accommodation is Oswestry. If anyone does choose to stay over in one of them let me know. I’ll meet up for a beer / curry / meal. Don’t expect clubbing to 6am, it’s a bit of a one horse town but hey who cares

I would like to say yes, but it is already a question with the RR, if he can go where a RR can, he is welcome. Keep in mind that we are going into the mountains, so low range will be a must.
