Ok, so I have a rough idea of numbers so now I will make a plan.
Firstly can you all state wether you want to camp, go b&b or holiday cottage. I will be able to get a better deal on accommodation so let me know.
Ta....

... and don't all say you're kipping in Mark's van:-}

No, it's ok - all done. We're using the smaller camp site as the big one has started charging for washing lines, prams and by tyre size.

Well I'm bringing a 12 week old boy and need power for heat so if there isn't I'll stay on the other camp site with hook ups.

Re: Anyone for camping? Updates in first post.

OK all sorted with a hookup.
The site is Conder Farm.
It is right on the edge of the village and not officially open untill easter so lots of space.

For anyone else wanting to camp there is no need to worry about booking just let me know so I can give the owner an idea of numbers

No, not High Laning - don't allow camp fires and generally very expensive - more like a camping and caravan club site.
Conder Farm has much better views if a bit more basic - full facilities though.

Don't fancy seeing "ths lot " half naked - Twodogs, Mark and Fred in carnival gear is a very scary thought.

Re: Anyone for camping??????????

Hi

Help required if possible

Slightly off thread but only slighly

On a few of the pics some of the guys on the last trip are using what look like military style tents which are small but have a built in awning
for a vehicle to back up to.

What are they called...other than tents!!!

Where do i get one from....other than coming to Dent in Feb and whipping one during the night!!!

Cheers

Gav

Re: Anyone for camping??????????

 Do you mean the Oztent?

Waste of money, if you ask me. Ok, they do go up very quiclky, but they take up loads of room and are silly money for what they are. Selling a dream rather then a practical tent, like a lot of the stuff aimed at people who think there on an expedition.
I sold mine and swapped it for a 2 second tent.,, lol

All looking good we haven't had much snow so far so the probability is looking good.
Just trying to sort out the food on Saturday evening - still think it's better if we get in some where in case the weather is against us.

Re: Anyone for camping? Updates in first post.

I think that you are all clinically insane for contemplating this at this time of year. A real danger of the GWOA clubs finest being wiped out en-mass. However for a few extra quid you might survive in one of these, with a log burning stove installed. Maybe?

Get a few tips from Piggy, he's equipped to camp down to about -25.

Well this time, if you can harness and burn some of that methane released during the night you should be warm as toast in your tent.

Hmmmm...wonder who'll be warmest ( I have vissions of 4x4 sprinters floating off into the stratosphere like hydrogen balloons.

Touched -6 during the day today :-0

Re: Anyone for camping? Updates in first post.

Just to let you know, for logistical reasons(can't be bothered to tow a trailer up) I won't be bringing the 12x12 tent up.. So we'll all have to doss in marks removals van..

That's ok, I wouldn't want to tow a trailer all that way just for a tent either. We have a choice of pubs, cafes and my house to use if the weather gets bad.

Re: Anyone for camping? Updates in first post.

I don't think there will be that many G's Huss, more like landcruisers, volvos and flower power vans.

But I guess we'll all be there there talking about our next trip and where we've been no matter what we drive..

We might even waste a bit of time talking about the GWOA. Forum. Lol
