Differences rear fog / reverse lights between the W460 and W463?

Hello,

I'm looking to replace the rear seals and reflectors on the above lights. As far as I can see, these ULO-made lights are the same except for the lens colour.

Have just had a shorter than planned call with MB Parts  - to learn that the W463 rear fog light seal is £33+VAT and the whole light is £135+VAT. Ouch. A generic fog lamp is £10.

The W460 part is about £30-40. It could be better made too - I've replaced side indicator lights on my W202 with W124 parts, to find the latter were heavier and better sealed.

Does anyone know if the W460 and W463 lights are the same size? In which case the reflectors migtht be interchangeable with expoxy and a file. As for the seal I can fit top quality bulbs and a rubber blue-tac (branded Sugru I think)

Thanks for any help in advance!

Tim

Re: Differences rear fog / reverse lights between the W460 ...

Hi Tim,

There are a few threads on here from owners doing the same... seems like the cut-out and fixing is the same but the 463 is better.  The 463 cluster also has no reversing light wiring, because that is in the rear bumper on the 463, so you may need to fit an auxilliary reversing light.

Thanks for the above reply. I'm trying to figure out a like-for-like replacement of the light units on a 2011 463, which has single colour fog and reverse lights. Mercedes switched from Hella to ULO lights but the ULO unit is extortionate.
