Re: New Winter/Spring project. SWB Pickup

the reason that the jerrycan holder doesnt fit is because it goes on the military g. also your spare wheel carrier is fitted too far to the left, and possibly high. the bottom arm should be under the rear lamp cluster on the sloped bit of metal below the lamp.
on the military soft top gs the rear tailgate doesnt have any sort of hinge, and on the left hand side it is held closed by a lock which uses the same handle as the other doors. the tailgate is actually fixed to the military spare wheel carrier that is hinged on the right. the tailgate itself is about 5 inches narrower than the civvy g to allow for a wider left hand rear quarter panel that is wide enough for the jerrycan holder.

Thanks Mark,

The narrower door is what I had suspected.

The wheel-carrier is indeed too high and too far to the center. This was necessary as I was not in possession of the original hinges....and my fitter was unaware of the correct position (As was I) when he manufactured them. I'm looking at solutions for this + the Jerry can holder.

Popped on the rear frame from a breaker, courtesy of Eddie Gilmartin (Needamerc) in Dublin....planning to get a cover made up at a tarpaulin workshop nearby. She'll look a little more original + still retain the security of an enclosed cab.

Wheel spacers now on, filling the arches that little bit better.

4 hours sticking in new glow plugs tonight too....not exactly the weather for it...but with 3 gone...the old girl stubbornly refused to start - having been dragged kicking and screaming from her heated garage!! No.2 cylinder from the front...what an absolute B******!!

Cold day for a wheel change!!

Popped on my new set of 17" Brabus wheels. 8J so with the 30mm spacers can't be accused of NOT filling the arches now!! A bit bling...but I like it!!

Also set on the dilapidated canvas cover to get an idea...will hopefully be having 1 (Maybe 2) made up from this template.
