Re: Other Germanic products

Ooo! My best group of five was slightly less then 4cm in a 10 range... I was using a m16a4 then...

And... I eat german bread the whole time... The black one, quite hard... Looks like a piece of brick.

Re: Other Germanic products

Disgusted sniff
Rye bread
The wife tells me it "is good for me"
I do know that not eating it would definately not be good for me
Re shooting
.22 indoor, a card with 10 No targets on, one round per target, shot at 25m?
My "nerves" always went when I was on for a possible so I generally only managed a 97 or 98, despite the promising start
Service rifle with the dear old SLR
I either shot a blinder, particularly standing, or shot shit
Inconsistent little blighter I was
7.62 target rifle, which i kept with the ammo in a student flat on Tates Ave, just across from west Belfast dont ya know,
Until the RUC eventually enquired where I stored it, from then on I had to keep it at Ballykinler.
Mind you even then the English were a funny lot, got some strange looks when travelling on the Underground, in about 1982 or 1983.
Plus that security dork at Heathrow enquiring if the bolt was loaded, as I had it in my pocket when boarding the plane,
this was after declaring 500 rounds of .22 against an absolutly blank ( ie no ammo purchased ) Ni FAC, The different security dork turned the permit this way and that , finnally spotted where it said I was authorised to purchase up to 500 rds and decided it was 100% Ok
, DOH
I think the longest range I shot on with the target rifle was probably 600m, our limit in NI
Dont know if I ever tried the longer ranges at Bisley.
Again inconsistent

Re: Other Germanic products

Sorry Marcus our posts crossed in cyber space.

My question was to Spider IV, which BIG toy managed the 1500 metre grouping?

Weapon, calibre, load?

Er
No
Russ
I was replying to Spider
Must confess a bit  sceptical about 1.5" at 1500m
Or whatever it was
I was presuming it was 7.62 due to the "Greenspot" Radway green? reference
though on reflection I presume one can get .338 Lap in "greenspot"
if Radway load such a caliber
gibber

Russ,

Was a re-bored Lee enfield MkIV .303 to .338, free floating barrell with a 228 (?) long grain load (from memory). The breach, bolt and reciever were made heavier to withstand the extra pressures casued by the bigger load, and was being trialed by Enfield as a potential for runner to the L96 and R700 (american), was made by accuracy international I think.

The green spot ammo I was told was special ammo used by the snipers as each one was hand made and the cordite was individually weighed and counted, the metal case and volume had greater tollerances and the 'head'' were again individualy weighed and weighted. Standard ammo could vary by up to 5-10% from round to round, however from what I remembered from what they told me about the GS round each one was identical to the next, so variation was small.

As I said in my post I was lucky that the weather was perfect, no haze and I had a really experianced spotter who told me what to do. But I was in the 'Zone' that day and won my bet! :P

Here is a picture of my M4, I currently own.

You never cease to amaze Spider1V, you are 20 years ahead of your time, when this will be an essential part of urban warfare in London!
