Warning to all members new and old
You may find this site useful, or useless, you will find people with a mind of formation,you will even get people with a strange sense of humor, but a sense of humor nonetheless, but until you meet them face to face don't judge, we've been here to long, so if your sensitive, and can't take the banter, there are other helpful sites, Samaritans is a good place to start.
Most of those who haunt this site date back to a time when the G was regarded as the eccentrics choice, it might be fashionable now but for us nothing has changed. If bling is your thing expect insults from me but praise from others; take as you find and ask for a thicker skin for Xmas if you don't like it.
I second both of the above comments, this site is full of useful info (and rubbish at times), but this is not an encyclopaedia. The site is here for everyone’s enjoyment as well, so if I tell Mr Perfect he can’t drive, I don’t expect him to start crying, I expect him to hit back and refer to my track record of accidents.
(PS: I don’t think you can drive)

Don't be daft, no worries from me. I enjoyed your clash with PP, I have had lots of spats with Ian (Peter Perfect) and Mortinson too. Re your post about the Strata Florida I would be very interested in trying this out.

Thats an e-mail; my recollection is of you asking for my phone number and subsequent phone call, so go back to your archives or your tape recordings and check it out. In the phone call you came across needy and a bit sad so I (correctly as it turns out) decided to bother.

I can’t see PP and me becoming best of buddies, we have different ideals, different backgrounds and a different sense of humour, but I do respect him as one of members who knows what he is talking about when it comes to driving. I have seen him drive, and I have listened to what he says.
I am very confident that I am the guy on here doing the most serious 4x4 driving (at the moment), and that is what it is about. Crying about PRWales not wanting to play with you isn’t going to resolve anything.

Yes I am, I'm not saying I am the best off-road driver, if I was, I wouldn't keep messing up cars. I live in the mountains, I just finished building my own house without any normal access to it, so everything was brought in with a G Wagen and trailer. I shoot at least once a week, and the carcasses needs recovering, I am redoing all my fences, and believe it or not, the tractor can't get to all the spots to drop material off, so out comes the G again. I am a 4x4 rescue volunteer for the area, and I do go playing on some sort of route with friends whenever I can.

will never forget how me and pp slagged each other off for so long in the earlydays of gwoa . most other members thought we were old buddies from school or arch enemies. met up for the first time a few years back, and tbh ian is one of the nicest blokes here, even nicer than fred , mark or spider [ which hard i guess....]
had a great time with pp and his missus when they visited cyprus a few years back. pp sure knows how to drive. he proved that with the vitara renta car he had when did some light laning....
to sum things up , just get on with it guys... lifes too short and know ones perfect not even peter perfect !

I was just questioning your claim to be doing the "most serious 4x4 offroading", We all offroad in different ways but obviously yours is more 'serious' than ours.
It is probably irrelevant to you that I happen to live on a 50,000 acre estate in the middle of the Cairngorm National Park with some of the most inaccessible terain in the UK. Driving offroad up here is a way of life and on a daily basis over all types of terrain a necessity.
However I will concede that you are the most serious 4 wheel driver because I actually have 8 wheels .
We have a winner. Big block wins the "my dads bigger than your dad" with the biggest house, biggest estate, the most off roaders, and the biggest head, congratulations you have won a days off roading in strata Florida with rocstaman.

These are the trolls of the forum, always willing to make an acerbic comment or two, will bring you down in a flash and will push that 'envelope' so far with their comments, any new member will feel all hurt and upset and will wonder WTF about the GWOA.
Without them this would be a rather bland, boring forum and I would say to any past, new, old or lurking member you could not want for any finer 'e-friend'. These boys are as tough as the cars they own (except PP which I am sure is temporary) and I would say make an effort, go out and meet them once - and I mean go out and shake their hands, look in their eyes and you would NEVER feel, hurt, upset and feel the need to make such comments as I have seen over the past year or two. This is a forum and if one is too sensitive, then its a shame, but a forum is a forum expect all sorts, if one wants soft cuddly people then get a Jimmny or you have the freedom to vote with ones feet.
I know that not everyone likes some of the things said and we have lost some great members...G-Day et all, but they just left, PM'ing those people who mattered a final message to say why.
I am usually the voice of (some) reason, but please, any new, old or lurking member before one makes snide remarks, or feels upset and then comments about it, MAKE THE EFFORT TO AT LEAST MEET SOME OF THE PROTAGONISTS before you judge them. Go on, I challenge you to do so, you never know you may just be pleasantly surprised...

Cheers Huss, a lot of people talk the talk, but I think I walk the walk, I've made so much effort over the years for this club, doing the magazine attending loads of shows , and not to mention the videos that take me hours to do, for the club! , but meeting many good people. When me and my girlfriend, who is sadly no longer, decided we wanted to go on holiday, we thought of Cyprus, so we could go and see some old friends from here, Huss and Shakir, we had a great time, watch the video !
So for those pp haters, I don't have issue with, horses for courses, but when you make as much effort as I have for over 12 years for the Gwoa, then you can say you walk the walk, and as for the best off roader, you all know It's me!
When I attended the Normandy trip last year, I complied the video on a Sunday morning, it took me 10 hours, one member in particular was so pleased at what I did, do you know he actually sent me £100!!! I refused to bank it!!! He then rang my girlfriend and sent it to her without me knowing! I don't know to this day if she banked it, but several people have thanked me for my efforts, those are the people I gave time for, no sulking whiners , I'll admit this club has made promises about manuals and other stuff, but that is out of my hands, I try to make up for it in others ways, effort, loyalties , advice, wit and a bit of humor, albeit not to everyone's taste. Ha ha.

Me an embarasment, you been talking to Russ280, really russ :o) there are lots of people that dont like me, but i really dont care, life is for living, taking the pee at times, I can be polite too you know, I tend to leave that to the Americans, never take life too seriously, if I only had a 4x4, you could teach me how to use it.
I can honeslty say I have never bullied anyone, cut and paste anything you percive as bullying on here, then take a chill pill and read again ! . Anyway im off to play in the snow in my van, show up some 4x4 owners that think the hi and lo ratio lever is a sex aid !
