 Hi

After getting my G (91' 300 GE SWB) muddy after a few paynplay days and trying to do a under car clean, I can see a fair amount of surface rust on the chassis and shocks etc. I have been looking at getting a steam clean done and considering some form of under car treatment.  I plan to do a few pay n play days each year and do some green laning and dont wont to completely ruin the old G.

Any suggestions or experiences would be greatfully received.

Re: Chassis treatment

Hi
a thorough steam clean *emphasis on the thorough* with the wheel arch liners removed and then a liberal coat of "Dinitrol" on totally dry surfaces ..best done professionally not with hand held canisters... grease the nne nipples on the propshafts and smear the front axle swivels with Vaselene with wheels off the ground so that you can move the steering from side to side...

Re: Chassis treatment

Thank you so much

Do any members know of somewhere in London to get a professional chassis treatment done?

Re: Chassis treatment

Re: Chassis treatment

I am not really sure whether it was off road use or hitting a pot hole at speed, I only noticed it in the course of a tyre check though I think it felt a little bouncy at the rear but I might be being wise after the event. Welding done problem sorted but it might be wise tio have the Dinotrol treatment that Peter Perfect's post suggests

Re: Chassis treatment

I hate to say it, but that'll probably break again, good weld maybe, but if if you weld back on to what already is weak..... I'm sure waxoyl is good when applied to clean steel, or sound painted steel. If it's put over rust, in some cases it would make it worse because it's good at keeping the moisture in there!!

Re: Chassis treatment

If it was feeling bouncy, maybe the other side may have been working overtime to dampen the axle. You might want to check the other side for fatigue (usually it will look like the metal is 'thinning' around a certain area). Good luck with the fix/ph
