Welcome to idiots corner......
Topped up the washers today and noticed some black stuff over the back coming looking like it has leaked out of the breathers, looks like it's leaked quite a bit
should i worry?

they are the diff breathers. Have you chagned the diff oil since you have owned it?. If you do might be worth blowing and air line down to clean them out a bit.
