I have once had the fuel tank out and brased a hole in the outlet pipe which has held well but now it has sprung a leak in the seam. Most of the seams are in a sorry state and I am not sure what is the best thing to do.

A new MB tank is £330 +VAT and I therefore want to look in to a reseal/repair. So far, I have been quoted £220 +VAT + 2 way carriage for a repair which isnt worth it and I wanted to know whether anyone has had experience of these repairs and whether they are cheaper without compromising quality and safety.

Adding another £330+VAT to the list of major fixes necessary (in 2 weeks of ownership - blower heater, previous tank repair, discs, pads and calipers, windscreen rubber, wiper spindles and now complete steering track rod) I just want a quick and cheap fix so I can start to enjoy the car.

Any thoughts or contacts?

There is a product on the market which your pour into the tank (having removed it & sloshed it out) called "slosh tank sealer", not noticed it advertised lately so i can't give you more details but i'm sure by now there must be other similar products that you can buy.

I have done a bit more research and found a company who does the RENU system, resin sealer inside and rubberised compound outside and have quoted an hourly rate of £25 with a maximum of 5 hours. £45 carraige both ways.

I intend to get this done in the next couple of weeks and will keep you all posted on this as it is obviously a common problem

The job takes about a week to do but it works .
