On my 89 300 GD the air con has electric motor activated vent controls that change the vent air source when the air con is turned on, these are not working has any one any experience of this.

Hi Bill
Are you talking about the flap below the air grill on the bonnet. which opens and closes?
Mine (all 463s) has a switch which can operate that manualy( no A/C). There is a small actuator connected to it which moves the flap. So if yours is not working its going to be the actuator or the electrical supply to it. A multi meter should track down the fault.

No Roly. its the air con fitted to a 460 which was retro fitted at dealers. and the flaps are fitted in the round air vents at each end of the dash, when you turn the air con fan on they should close the flow from the heater fan and change it to pick up from the air con fan.
I have removed the panels and tracked the wiring and it is all in place, but the motors don't run when the fan is turned on.

Air Con

Bill,
Our 1989 460 has got A/C (not working, no compressor etc ) BUT it does have flap as Roly describes which actuates when the A/C is switched on at the dash, there only being this one switch for the A/C.

Air Con

Thanks Marcus and Roly, I have sorted it now, the air from the air con is trunked into the air from the heater via a Y piece in each side vent, a motorised flap redirects the air when you turn on the air con and the reverse when you turn it off.
The motors auto stop on back pressure and the flap on both sides had stuck to the duct body, now free they work perfect.
Thanks again for your help.
