I have been a fan of this sight for some time and have finally bitten the bullet and deceided to go for a G (major step!). Have seen a 300GES with 150k on the clock (MB Service history), leather interior and apparently well looked after. My concerns are twofold. One is the engine mileage. I appreciate that Merc engines can go on forever (my 320 has 180k), but they do start to rattle a bit and are not in their prime. How does the 300 engine survive in a G?
Secondly, the price seems a bit steep at £8,900. Seller has clearly referenced the Caversham connection. What should be a sensible figure for this vehicle assuming it is, as the vendor says, in good condition. This figure seems to get 70-80k '93 models on e-bay and this site.

Your help much appreciated.

150,000 miles is nothing if it has full service history.
The price is on par for London pricing, especially if it is in good nick. Leather is not that common.

Also dark colours command more money in London area.

I paid slightly more for mine and it didn't have leather (has MB-Tex), but only had 130K.

I would say if it is in good shape and you like it, go for it. Or else you may be looking for many many months yet.

Thanks Maxwell. I am planning to have a look tomorrow. Will take the useful info from this site with me and hopefully use my head rather than my heart!!

Christ!! Is there such a big difference in price between a 460 and 463??

My 460 300GD 1989, so one year older, with 97000 miles and FSH cost £7300 LESS than the 463 you are talking about, maybe it helps being 'up north'???

Yes. Here, in Germany or anywhere. 460s are quite commonplace around here but 463s are much rarer. Also all of the 463s sold in the UK has a generous equipment, including 5-speed manual gearbox, electric windows, alloy wheels and ABS as standard, all of which where costly extras in the 460. Many also come with auto gearbox, aircon and leather (you could not even get either of this two in the 460). On top of all this 463s are all newer than 460s.
