Hey guys

Just bought a 230GE W460 model and loads people saying how thirsty it is.

the engine is mechanically like the rest of the car in very very good condition so i hope this will give me a more efficient MPG.

Many people have given varrying answers to the 230GE MPG from 8 up to a 21!

My Model is the 1990

As for the 230GE engine for the W460 for around the age of my car is it a good engine or have i made a mistake buying a petrol?

thanks

The 230 GE engine is fine on the road, but a bit gutless (lack of torque) off the road. Fuel consumption is relatively high at an average of 17 mpg.

Regarding whether you've made a mistake buying that car, it entirely depends on the confition of the truck. I'd rather spend my money 230 GE in good condition than on a 280 GE past its sell-by date.

Enjoy your truck.

I had a 230 auto. it did 17mpg at constant 60. I had a gas conversion soon after and run like a dream for 4 years, gutless off road so got a 280 and gassed that as well. I really liked my 230, very sweat engine and looked after will easily do 300,000. If its manual then shold get about 20 out of it. If its the one quecus is saying then i've seen that truck, in good nick

Jimmy G,

I live in Chiddingfold and work in Godalming.

Well, there is a very basic 1984 silver 230 GE SWB in Godalming and two W463 300 GDs in Chiddingfold. Mine is SWB, green, with MB bullbar and 16" alloys but without the extended wheelarches. The other is a LWB in almandine red metallic and cream leather, with the 15" alloys and the extended wheelarches. And I have seen a black G500 getting out of one of those mansions in Chiddingfold but I don't know whether the car lives there or not... those rich people are very reclusive, you see.

Anyway, if I see you, I'll know that it is you...

Cheers
