hi g. car is looking good! Enjoy the trip. By the way, what size of tyres did you go for - are your springs standard?ph

THX
springs and shocks are totally stock.
when empty rear was sitting a good inch higher than front. Now fully loaded it's level. And truck behaves good, not too soft, not much body roll.
tires are 32" 235 85 16 BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM2 (new pattern)
They look great under a stock truck, there is no rubbing or touching even when fully loaded and cross axled. They have amazing grip off road, but squeek when I drive & corner (very) sporty. The major drawback is that they are pretty loud. I had muds on my defender but never noticed tire noise. The new pattern should be quieter, but the 270 is so quiet that the only thing I hear on the highway are the tires.

thx for the kind words.

But bigger isn't always better...and certainly not always nessesary.
My last trip to iceland was in the defender 90 with 33" muds.
Drove al the way over the langjokul glacier and up to the top of every volcano i saw. Those icelanders kept telling me I was crazy. wel euhm...maybe.

Yes first time in a G to iceland.
Except for a day out to wales with members of this forum...first serious trip with the G to anywhere.
I can tell you the outcome in advance....
G...much more comfortable, especially on the way there and back (2400km)
amazing for travel...
Def...loud, uncomfortable, basic, spartan, less likely to break down...but with lockers and lift it still eats pretty much anything out there...
amazing for hardcore 4X4...

i guess the def is like a wrangler, hardcore off roader when modified. but the G is much better all round and much better in standard factory setup.
