Hmmmm... I think I can register my G in the UK with the yellow 5 days plates, since I will get a fahrzeugschein under my name for that.

So I am thinking to change the lights before heading home, could anybody tell me where should the headlight be aiming at? Like... the degree and axial figures... blah blah blah

Thanks!!

Re: Light specification...

You simply need to get yourself a new pair of RHD headlamps.

If you don't care about losing the height adjustment (which will be toast by now anyway) you can buy them in any Hella factor (they are the VW Mk I headlamps)

Cheers

Re: Light specification...

Hi VW mk1 headlamp units do not have the remote height adjustment feature ..new 463 series RHD dip to the left units were GBP 70 + vat each from MB at the last count ......do not forget to switch the reversing light / fog lamp positions while you are into lights......other thing is the speedo dial calibration in MPH / KPH dual reading or MPH only as required for GB MOT.......

Re: Light specification...

thanks fixwin! Yes, I am changing the reversing light/fog light tomorrow. I don't think I will be bothered about the speedo since no body check that anyway...

Can i just swap the location of the two lamps? like... left to the right, right to the left?

Yes you can. That's exactly what I did when registering my two LHD Gs in the UK.

Re: Light specification...

To be clear morty means the rear lights not the headlights.... you can't just swap l to r for headlights.

If you don't need the height adjustment then tschiewagon sells some RHD non-adjustable headlights that look like the 2005 headlights for pretty cheap on ebay. The difference is they are clear and a lot brighter than what you will have on now.

For what it's worth I kept LHD lights on..... the only change I did for UK was reversing/fog light.

Exactly! You need to use a lenght of new cables beneath the bumper to reverse the connections!

I had to fit RHD leadlamps though... my local MOT station wouldn't budge!

Cool! Luckily my 320 doesn't have a split rear bumper like the 300GD...

I cannot be bothered to change mine... black electric tape would solve the problem. Level adjuster, just want to slap whoever invented that thing with a rotten fist on the face.
