Thanks for M2's info I have successfully taken off the console, but now the problem is how to take the actual switch off. I have read this post but still don't really understand how it works....

Re: How to take the window switch off?

Apologies for not being able to help further...only other related pics I could find where from Mortinson's rebuild of the switches a few years ago (to replace burnt-out bulbs).
I remember reading somewhere that they are a simple push-fit, so maybe you can push them back out (pushing in from the wood side), but then again not sure if this was for the 190E only or the 463?

Also if you've got rear electric windows and can't remove the switch for now, just connect the plug to a working switch so you can use the front window in the time being...

Seriously I was thinking going to MB first thing tomorrow morning and buy a switch. Now all i need is a label point to the rear window switch, which says 'front window'!!! I would be so honoured to invite you for a nice cup of coffee when we next meet up!

To remove the switch there are two metal tabs you press together and it comes out from the top. You can see the tabs in Jesus' pictures. Normally, you can dismantle the switch and clean the contacts to get it working again. Remember that they have a different symbol on them if you buy a new one

Re: How to take the window switch off?

I can't remember well because I was much younger then but I believe that to remove the switches you have to press both metal tabs (using your thumb and indez fingers simultanously) shown at either end of the switch in the second and third of my pics posted by M2 and then push the switch through the front of the panel (the wooden side).

So the switch will actually be pushed from behind the panel to exit through the front.

Cheers!

Re: How to take the window switch off?

I've just checked and the switch has a small slot at each end of it. Insert a small screwdriver and lever the plastic bracket slightly away from the switch and it withdraws from the rear. Both ends need to be done. It will be difficult to do it with the cables connected to the other switches. Easier to remove them all and take it to a bench.
