Do I need a Certificate of The Mutual Recognition process?
I am reading all those importation related stuff on DVLA. Although they are not that complicated but still...
So here is an order of procedure, which I have made for myself... please have a look at it and see if I have missed something! :D My car is too old for European Type approval I think, but I am not sure if I need a 'ertificate of The Mutual Recognition process'.
1. Insure it by using the VIN
2. MOT it
3. Fill in V55/5 and the VAT 414
4. Go to a local DVLA office
5. Pay all the fees and the Road disk
6. DONE!
Basically this is the thing, which i am confused about: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/BuyingAndSellingAVehicle/ImportingA...
I went through this process about 1 year ago. the only thing extra that you'll need, going from memory, is a customs form declaring that VAT has been paid (or at least to the best of your knowledge, or something like that....). This is part of the documentation that you'll need to register it when you give all your information to the DVLA so it is standard and straight forward. The only thing I'd add is that I found it much more helpful to go to our local DVLA office to hand in all the documents in person: they were very helpful, quick in dealing with me and then all I had to do is wait for my new logbook. Good luck/ph
Okay, just read this (http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/...) word to word... I don't need one because the car in question is more than 10 years old.
Thanks!
