Hi All,

This is my first post and first venture into G Land :)

I'm currently looking to purchase a G Class and have found one that looks interesting in Belfast (I'm in Leeds so will have to pay for a ferry to get it back here if I end up buying). The G in question is a 300D manual with 120,000 miles registered in 1990. The seller seems genuine and has sent me all the photo's below also stating that the car comes with lots of documents, in your expert opinion's what should I offer him for this beauty? and from the photo's does the condition look good?

Many Thanks

Re: Is this G any good?

Hi We know this G' very well! it has had two workshop visits with us....when it was owned by the sales manager of the local MB dealer...over the last three years the entire clutch system was replaced(by MB). two new rear springs. new exhaust. new front and rear brakes.and we supplied a recored radiator only last week.....engine performance has been enhanced with a recalibrated pump and the body is in very good all round condition.....***.the day sailing on the Norfolk Line ferry to Birkenhead is GBP 79 for car and driver if you travel before the school holidays or it can be delivered by car transporter for GBP 200......so don't be put off by the collection costs.....at the asking price it is good value!!! get the delivery costs into the deal and you have yourself a GOOD G'.....at a good price......

Reputed to be a very up together 460. It was one I was seriously considering but I opted for colour scheme over provenance!

What's the asking price?

Re: Is this G any good?

bit late I know - but is it normal to have the spare that low? Was this a feature offered as an option or something that is done after market?

Yours enquiringly

I was wondering about that too... looks like the spare is fixed lower on a 460 than a 463.

Re: Is this G any good?

On 463s (not sure when they started) the spare wheel carrier can be removed and tilted around 120 degrees or so, to give a lower position for the spare, for people that do not tow regularly, and do not mind having the spare so close to the tow hitch.
