ML seats into W460?
Hello and greetings,
Does anybody know if putting ML seats into a W460 is possible, got a good price on a set but want to ensure fitment and can't find out from anywhere.
Be grateful for your help
Thanks
its been done before... do a search here. i had rover recaros in a G. others have had clk seats and even recaros from ford.
good luck
Hi Smarty,
did u find the answer. i couldnt seem to use the search function either. im looking to put some 163 ML seats into my G, both front and rear. im sure the ML seats must bet at least half the weight of the 460 middle bench which weighs 75kg last time i took it out

Smarty, thanks for the prompt reply - not too much info otherwise and i found nothing on the seach forum. i had my dad measure his old MLs seats before i went to look at some on ebay. they are a bout 1-2cm wider per side on both front and rears so should fit dimensionally. the fittings are obviously different at the bottom. i think the fronts shuold fit once you take off the small brackets on the bases so the rails sit on our Gs storage boxes. the rears will require some amendment. the ML foot plates are two levelled which is like our Gs floor plan but i think the G has a bigger step...im not sure whether the height will be right if we simply get a plate made up to fit on the base of our old G benches, or do we just screw the ML foot plates into the floor pan and remove everything from the old bench.
after watching these ones on ebay quite cheap, i just said stuff it and bought them. im going to try and get them fit but a metal fabricator but wont be for a month or two as im living interstate here in australia.
best regards
nathan
ps enjoy the pics for your own consideration
Sorry to pull up an old thread, but anything happen with this car? Did you fit the seats in?
Hi,
I can report on how my seat change went. I read this thread a while ago when i was searching for new seats that would fit.
In the end I just took a chance when I got a deal on a couple of Recaro IS2000 "Style" from a motorhome, they even have armrests.
Out with the old and disgusting stuff:
The old leather seats
Fabricated some new mounting plates, 10mm thick steel, using the old holes and cleaned up a bit. Notice the scrapes on the plastic next to the hand brake. That part of the plastic had to go.
New seats in place. All- electric movement, heating and ventilation fans. All sorts of good stuff :)
And from the other side.
So far I'm very happy with the change. Feels like a much newer car. Also the seat bases no longer follow me out of the car each time I get out...
Nice job
Cheers, thank you.
I think I was using the search facility wrong before as have more results now!
