My battery goes flat after just a few days of standing. AA recovery man said that both battery and alternator are fine. Thinking problem could be alarm or alternator regulator. Can anyone recommend an auto electrician or mechanic in North London who could sort out problem?

Check if interior lights in the back aren't on.
At least that's what has happened to me. During day time you can hardly notice they are on, but lights can drain your battery in a few days.

Re: Flat battery -- auto electrician?

Hi A fairly simple procedure is to remove the + positive battery lead from the terminal and with everything switched off and doors shut gently touch the lead to the terminal post... if you get a spark then there is a drain on the battery somewhere. next procedure is to locate the fuse plan in the owners handbook.. remove the fuse panel cover under the glovebox and with the help of another person pull one fuse at a time and check the positive lead/terminal touch for a spark. continue along the fuse bank until you find the fuse that stops the spark when removed.look at the items in the handbook listed against the fuse you have removed.this will localise the area of the problem....corroded doorframe switches... broken wires in the backdoor interface loom are more common causes for battery discharge outside of a failing battery /faulty alternator which your AA man seems to have proved is not the case.....if you cannot repair the problem yourself at least you have saved some manhour costs with the electrician who would have to perform similar procedures anyway. in order to find the fault...

Thanks very much. I am going to try to locate what is draining the battery by pulling fuses one at a time. Hope to find the fault! Hope it isn't the alarm, a fairly ancient one that seems to have a mind of its own.
