Had the pleasure of sitting in this beauty last week in Nice, France...just delivered in from whoever does the refurb/rebuild....incredible!!

All the style, with every modern convenience!!

Anyone care to venture a guess at the cost?

£100k at a guess - there's a place near me that does a rebuild for around £80k to standard spec

Looks like a V6. Do you remember a few years ago classic cars were exempt from company car tax. These conversions were popular then. Great idea.
second Pagoda posted here recently.

Depends who did it... there is a company in Germany that refurbs Pagodas to modern spec but price depends on what they start with and what they do with it... about €80k - €160k if I recall.....

No offence but I would take a Mechatronik pagoda over a Cypriot job any day of the week... keep it German engineering I say. Plus it keeps the value.

Although I should also point out that the prices I indicated above exclude the car.... and I was a little off... €64k - €178k excluding donor w113....

Tom - what of your friend that had the blue 280 rusting in the field? surely that should be saved...

Mort - ya I would prefer an original one but since the subject was on modernised w113s...

a friends father yes, id love to get hold of it but sadly dont have the money or space to keep it, shame!

i love the idea of a modernised classic, even though a mercedes does not need it as much as an old aston or jag, but to have a slightly pacey solid reliable but drop dead cool and gorgeous car would be fantastic. classics like this have the ability have the ability to make any modern supercar, even hyper car, look like complete pretenders

Re: Not a G, but worth a drool!!

maxwell, i forgot money was no object for you.... :? sorry for insulting your perfectionist, only the best will do.. attitude :!: :P

what i meant to say was, a pagado,or 107, or a 129 could be beautifully converted into 300 td using the 606 engine.[i am not trying to compare to that german company in any way.]

result would be awesome! economy, power, reliability of the fantastic 300td and classic lines of the timeless sl's.

we have a possible 107 lined up for a full restoration, engine conversion later in the year.

Well, it could be perfectly modernised with a M103 engine and a 722.6 5-speed auto gearbox. both designed in te 90s....don't get me wrong: the more I listen, the more I hear of brand new Mercs spending more time in the garage thn on the road...

Marty, what have we started?
We should begin a new section for SL diesels with 4WD and portal axles. Huss does the transplant. I can do snorkels, truck mirrors and all the bits and bobs. Mickthedigger could do the axles and roll cages. Tyreman could source some wicked rubber....
And of course they would have to be painted Desert Sand or Manila Beige.
A niche within a niche within another niche.
