Many of you might know that I crashed my G on 2nd, October last year, my car was the only vehicle that was involved... but i have just found out something very interesting but irritating today: a German company has filed in a claim on 25th November... the insurance company guy told me that the DE company didn't tell them much so the claiming processes is still on-going.

I have paid for all the government clean up and recovery fees already so I am really curious about this, i don't think i have damaged any roadside facilities either...

The insurance guy also told me that the DE company looks like a highway maintenance company... but i think the Autobahnen are maintained by the government rather than a contractor here; what is worse is that when i went to the police station this afternoon and asked them for a full report of that accident they said they don't have any record of that!! They said maybe i should try the fire department or the federal police since it happened in the autobahn area...

very very strange!!!! what do you think??

Re: Insurance fraud?

Let your insurance company deal with it... they're the ones liable to pay anyhow. So if they think it's fishy they'll do the leg work.

Could it be a case of 'ambulance chasing'. German Maintenance Company looks for reports or claims of accidents and then submits a claim for maintenance at the location (whther they performed any or not).
Probably 100% of the time they are paid for their clean-up work, even when there is none.

It doesn't seem right that they should perform any work without prior authorisation by the authorities. But they probably have a 'pre-agreement' that its their job to look after sections of road 'as nececessary'.

It will be interesting to see what you find out. It won't cost you personally, but we all suffer because of the insurance payout has to be paid by us all in the long run.

Hmmmm, it will cost me my no-claim!! Another question is that how did they find out my insurance company? If what you said is true then I will have to prove that they didn't preform anywork... As I remember so very clearly that the accident didn't cause any damages to the road...

Simples - someone in the insurance company or the police or who ever attended the accident called a friend/family member in the maintenance company and told them. Hey presto maintenance goes to work!

Couldn't really... data protection act!!! All they could tell me is that the claimer is a company.

Just went to the Polizei again, they told me that the automahnen are maintained by the government. They also told me that since there is no anti-crash bars in that bent so i don't have to pay anything really...
