280 GE Fuel Tank Range
Hi All,
Please can 280 auto owners give me a rough approx of the mileage range they can get from their petrol tank?
I'm currently trying to deduce if mine is running rather thirsty i.e. i've done 120 miles on a full tank (general sensible driving) and mines already down to under quarter of a tank. :shock:
Be great to know what other owners get from their G Wagens to benchmark against.

I think I get nearly 200miles to a tank, I've stopped counting though and just fuel up when needed. Will try and remember to reset the counter next time and check for sure.
fuel guages are un - reliable..if you have a G' with one oe two long range tanks in under the wheelarches that gives you 30ltrs more than a single main tank...set the odometer counter after filling to the neck and drive until you get to the quarter full reading.. then put a 5 ltr can in the back and run it until you get the low level warnng light. note the mileage then drive on until you run out.read the mileage and now you know the miles per gallon.how far you can go after the low level light comes on.and how accurate the guage is.....you have the 5ltrs in the can to get you to the next fill ....you should average 14/15 mpg as a rule of thumb....better if yours is manual G'box........
My 230GE does 15 mpg (3 miles per litre) but my tank is only 5 gallons, so allowing for unused fuel below the pickup level in the tank, it will do 58 miles from full before a refill is needed.
Maybe I need a bigger tank :?:
I get about 90 miles on £30 worth in my 280GES. Any comments? Looking at this above this seems about right.
I would add that that my average trip is about 4 miles.
