Hello ,does any body know if to take up the slack/play in the king bolt swivel pins on the front hubs on the above...Is it a matter of removing the neccesary shims to put more preload on the taper roller bearings in the the swivel housing thus I hope taking the play up ? ...Peter Russeks book is a bit vague and dosn`t really mention adjustment only dismantling and rebuilding.G

Hi replacing the bearings / cones and using the existing shims normally does the trick...

Hi take the old bearings as a pattern to a specialist bearing stockist ....
should be at leat 25% cheaper than MB......

Good idea, I`ll do that ...Hopefully you don`t have to strip the whole hub to pieces ?can you get the outer race/cone of the bearing out with a puller or do you have to knock them out from inside the hub? G

Hi Unfortunately the only way to remove the cones is with the swivel casting on the bench....
