Re: Torque converter lock up ?

Hi piggy I don't know the answer, but I suspect as it is the later "smart" 5-speed 722.6 transmission, it would be determined by the transmission "brain" rather than having a simple speed for each gear. Also if I remember correctly, it might not lockup at all on lower gears, it was only meant to improve mileage when cruising in higher gears/speeds.

My landcruiser locks up at 55 mph, as above would be higher speeds, allthough locks up in first low range I believe to.

Re: Torque converter lock up ?

your landcruiser peter and the G wagen in question I don't think have smart electronic gearboxes like mine but just rely on centrifugal forces to lock up the torq.

You should be able to get a rough idea but holding your foot on the brake and reving the engine and seeing what they rev up to.

My G wagen will lock up at tick over in the right circumstances and going down hill..
