Will I have difficulty to insure a Puch G in the UK?
As the topic says... or do you think the insurance companies consider it as a MB G?
I would think it would be the same as a MB G in the insurance company's eyes. I have to renew my NFU tomorrow and will ask the question.ph
Half the insurance companies wont even do a G300td because it's not on the system, . The only Puch sold officially here was the 290
I tried to insure one - I gave up... as far as the insurance guys go, insuring a non UK G is bad enough. Getting one where the paper work in no way mentions its a G is worse...
Although one (sadly can't remember which) did say that once I bought the G and had it in the UK, if I could get a letter from Graz stating that it was a Mercedes other than in name then they would do.
But I didn't really want to buy the G only to put that guy's word to the test and find out he was wrong...
I "think" that if it has a 17 digit VIN the UFU/NFU will insure, The badge is a bit of a red herring, the time I was getting the Puch insured some of the insurers explained that they had suffered from prohibitive repair & altn veh hire costs with Japanes spec "grey" imports,........due to the difficulty and time involved in sourcing & obtaining parts..........but if the veh had a 17 digit VIn it would be Ok...............ie a Euopean spec.
Does this be right?
First update:
should not be a big problem (NFU guy said). however, as the name isn't known, you'd have to give details of the model (i.e. full chassis number, etc) as well as an explanation. Although the chap I was talking to knows exactly what I was talking about, he'd have to check it first and foremost with the underwriters (hence the first update - he'd get back to me later today) to make sure. he knew that it was a classic case of badge engineering (aka bentley/rr in the late 70s to early 80s).
reverting with further news, but in any case you really should talk to your insurers first and foremost. It might be easy to me to get a policy with them because of my history/(almost middle)age/profile/etc/etc, but may be a different thing for you to do so.
good luck/ph
And to insure the Puch "G" for 17 year old tiddles, assuming she gets her test, she got her theory 1st time
Drum roll please.......................£1155.55 Fully comp etc etc.

Hmmm maybe I should start an insurance company I think I will call it BOHICA Insurance company! I will have special rates and payments..... if you under 20 then it will be £10,000 on a £350 car, 100% down with nothing to pay for the next 11 months...... Any one interested?? 8) :D

Hmmmmm
Actually its not, with the number of cars the younguns wreak plus the many inflated/staged personal injury claims.
i for one would not wish to be running an insurance company.
PS
Was one aware that one is NOT required to be insured to drive a vehicle on the road, one can drive fully legally without any insurance.
Fact.
Dammn!
