How do I switch the back door light off please?

Do you mean the rear load area light that turns on when the rear door is open?
On later models of G you can pull the knob outwards to switch it off. Sure it would be an easier retrofit to earlier models too...

have you tried the switch on console next to abs switch for rear light, that is assuming youve got a 463 model david
