Ssanyongs and daewoos
Hi everyone
Is it true, in whole or part, that the Musso and Korando are merely rebodied G-class Mercs made under licence? If so I guess the general buying advice for G classes applies - and a lot of it applies to any proper 4x4 anyway. Or are there any other special things to look out for (probably as the result of cost cutting?).
If just bits of them are from the G-class or some other Merc (I know at least the engine is, because they made a big thing of it as a selling point) do you know how much of it?
Are they any good? What sort of life expectancy would one have if I looked after it. Are rumours of 500k miles on the engine true?
If I buy one, can I stay here for more advice...or should I leave now
Thanks for any advice offered.

As far as I am aware one of the the two brands as above used an older spec Mercedes engine.....built under licence.....i.e. not by Mercedes.
The gearbox was also different & gave trouble afaik, as for the rest?
So are you any wiser? ( or even better informed  )
cheers
M
I always thought they were running on the ML's drive train and floor plan.

Hi probably best compared to the aged human body...a reasonably good heart with high colesterol arthritis and dementia.the initial engine was supplied by MB in kit form ...later the turbo was sourced elsewhere and added .the rest of the tin is local materials and design.there is almost a 50% price reduction on delivery miles only-registered vehicles. do not seek solace from MB when it comes to engine parts or problems. bit like famous Jap named exotic imports!!!! buy a proper G'wagon..you will not regret it!!
