OOOOO!!!! I was thinking about this about 2 months ago!!! 24L/100km with 90km/h top speed is a bit too much for me tho!!

I agree. One with a VM Motori 2.5 diesel conversion might be okay though!

The video UAZ469-Jeep-01.wmv looks to show a diesel conversion. Also, interesting to hear that the Czech military are getting rid of their Defenders and going back to the older UAZ' because they are more robust. Whereas East European and Soviet consumer vehicles were sh..e, it does not hold for their military counterparts.

I don't think they are that tough, seen them in Angola in the late 80's, and they are definitely not Africa proof.

Personally I think the Hilux did better, is lighter and is a lot more comfortable.

hence why you see them with mounted 50cal. And spud guns, the Muslim brothers know what to use!
