not sure about the G270, but I have seen a CLK270 CDI had a failed electronically controlled air flow thing. The MB guy told me that small plastic part costs £240, it was in Oct, 08.
This might well be an individual case tho!
My girlfriend had a ml270 that had done 90,000 and it never missed a beat, airflow meters are common in all turbo diesels, and fail in other cars too, I think the 270 is a good engine, but with all high pressure diesel the injectors are expensive when they go £250 a piece
 It depends , but for the commoner vehicles one can purchase an air-flow meter for £50.00 odd.( cos I just have)
It might be poss if nothing else to source this bit via germany as the 270 CDI bes more common over there?
From a motor factors?
Try dropping modificata a note. I think his one (up for sale) is a 270CDI - he maybe able to tell you abut the running of one?
Spider1V
Check out Sprinters on mobile.de. Plenty of cdi ones with between 400,000 and 650,000 km's. I doubt if they all have had new engines.

true ! for a fiat punto £180 from dealer, £30 from ebay!
I like the colour ! and I think its a bargin at that price for its year.
Looks alright and I quite like the colour. I'd rather have a high mileage, well looked after one than a more expensive, lower mileage example. Then keep the difference aside for things like air flow meters....and beer.
You can pretty much be guaranteed that any problems (other than wear and tear) have been solved with that many miles.
I don't mind the colour, besides if you get that colour and drive around Newmarket you will probably get very good service.... and at least then you will have the company of a few other Gs in that colour...
Seen that one in real-life last october, good car... but it has been up for sale for at least 5 months.
Hey G,
I was looking at diesel Gs around €20k after I crashed the 300GE... found a few cheap G400s but too many people told me that they cost a lot to repair if something has gone wrong so I looked into the G270s. The one you are tempted by was the cheapest on the list so I went and had a look.
The general condition was good, but not as good as yours. Saw no dents, a little bit of rust on that big piece of metal underneath the engine; and a little bit of rust on the fuel tank guard. Engine looked and sounded okay (it's the first 270 engine that i listened to tho, so I don't know if that's 'good' or 'not so good'), it didn't make weird noises. The engine also looked clean, the condition was rather similar to my 300GE. No creamy stuff in the coolant water nor in the oil, so no head gasket problem.
I didn't buy it because of several reasons:
1. it was and still is above my absolute budget of €20k, and I cannot get another €2k by any other means.
2. the windscreen wipers are touching the rubber surrounding, it might indicate there is a spindle problem according to somebody here on the forum. (I think you can see it when you look at the photos closely actually!)
That's it really... if i had another €2k that CDI would be mine already!!
Hope this helps!

You can buy full spec lwb 270's with 120k miles for about 20000€
They have never left the tarmac....
You can also buy mint condition ones with 30k miles for 40000€...
...but this is above my budget.
I intend to offroad my car...so a scratch is inevitible.
therefore I would like to buy the less expensive, well maintained, higher milage car.
If they would be capable of 200k miles at least that would be ok for me...
