hi all, new member here, just started to think about getting a g as our next vehicle and the forums have already provided lots of great information.

hmmm, maybe you want to consider a petrol? Some early 463s (300GE) fit your budget and they are significantly more fun to drive than a 460 300GD!
if my budget will allow a 463 then that would be great, i'v only started looking today so it is all pretty new to me.
We plan to use it as our only vehicle and it will be used both on and off road - also used for longer road trips in the summer so both comfort and mpg are important factors.
I'v been trawling around the usual places - ebay - pistonheads - autotrader but not much is jumping out at me so far.
Of course the budget can be stretched a little for the right vehicle.. :-)
cool cool! As for fuel consumption, the 300GE uses way more fuel than the 300GD. Once I had a little race with a G500 on the autobahn at around 150km/h, I lost of course... but I am sure the consumption at that speed is no less than 22L/100km.
nice 463s with fair prices do come up from time to time :D
