ORC springs
I have to apologise if I have mislead anyone into buying ORC springs by saying it is a comfortable drive. Because I use use my car almost daily off road, and because my tyres are a lot bigger than normal I drive with a wheel pressure of 1.5 bar all the time. I was doing a long trip yesterday with a 3ton load, so I inflated my wheels to 2.2 bar.
Now I understand why people complain about the ORC springs. It is still better than sitting in a landy, but I must admit, it is a hard drive. The first thing I did today was to deflate my wheels again.
So unless you are ok with a few loose teeth, keep to the original springs.
BTW this is the only modification to my car, and I love it, but with soft wheels.
been pondering this one myself I love the ride in my g, great springs but I want more clearance under my chassis so I'm looking at g wagen accessories.com but by the time there here in the uk i think there going to be just short of £400 they look well made but I think I'm gonna have to cut the spring seat off and space it with some 1" tube that and a 1" body lift and somee 33" tyres should do the job
ORC s ride beautiful on my truck. I dont know what is the criticism for ?
I have OME springs on my G500 and it is also a lot harder than the G300. But, once loaded for overlanding, the springs are great (and the G300s are too soft - we do load up a lot admitedly). No complaints - I was told that they were similar in ride to the ORCs.
My tyres are 33". I fitted them to the standard springs and it just looked stupid. I then cut the ORC front springs down by about 1/2" to level my car out better. If you are going to fit 33's just deflate them to min 1.8bar and you will not get better than ORC.
I have had upgraded springs before, and they were a lot stiffer, to the degree that you lifted wheels to early because of limited travel of the stiff springs. I have complained about 463's abilities before, but with these springs it is right up there with my favourite 460. Money well spent.
