Just out of interest, is the 461 G290TD any good?
Like...
does it have the tail gate rust problem like the earlier 460s?
is it more reliable than the G350TD?

The rust on back door is a problem on all g wagens, I love the 290 engine, mated to the auto box is great, in response to the comparison to the 350, my opinion the 290 wins hands down, but the 350 being a six pot is smoother

The twin/barn doors on the 461 Van do not appear to be rusting.
well they wer'nt at the last MOT. I'll check again in another 11 months.

Which engine does it have? I tried to look on wiki but couldn't find the right match...
the only i5 2.9L was the OM602, produced from 87-93, so it cannot be right...

The engine is OM602DE29LA, basically the same block as the OM602D29 but the rest is somehow different (it has direct injection, turbo and intercooler)

Does anybody know the torque figure of that certain version of OM602 mounted on the G290TD? I only know it produces 88kw...

hmmmm, sorry for the odd comparison. I used the 350TD as a comparison because its engine is known for being not so reliable... I should have clarified it, all I meant was the engine itself but not the whole G.
