I am having problems with my blower (heater) on my 300GD 1989. Does anyone know how to access it for replacement/repair?

I am just weighing up the same thing should the problem not be with the fuse and earths. Basically you have 2 options both of which are explained on the forum.
1. Take out the entire dash and replace the fan, it can take 8 hours apparently - http://72.167.155.99/gtech.php?pageTitle=G-Tech%20Article&sid=item&tid=35

2. Fit an Astra MK2 unit in the air box under the bonnet and the middle of the bulk head. Apparently this is quicker but not pretty

read a bit about this

on my 300gd the blower does blow - but never blows very hot air - temp gauge never gets above 1/3 - ive put some cardboard in front of rad but its still the same

do these always run soo cold - or will it be the thermostat?

and the Astra suffers from the rain and wash water pouring over it...push the bonnet right back against the screen and hop up into the engine bay..reach into the heater air intake box and remove all the leaves pine needles and grot from the bottom and clean the drain hole located nearest to the brake servo.there (should be a rubber nozzle underneath the hole to stop water entering when fording)... if blocked this has allowed water to enter the blower motor and create the problem you have now... reach into the fan chamber and rotate the fan...if stiff or siezed you need a new one.. if free check number 8 or 9 fuse in the fuse carrier.. if blown chances are it is the motor burnt out... if not blown then the speed control resistors may be open circuit and they are located alongside the fan....price of motor assby is GBP 120 + vat from MB.... I have them at GBP 85 + postage .....
