Hi,

Right there are alot of post about the heaters breaking on here (i posted a few of them lol) and I've been racking my head over it since it stopped working and remembered this.

Right when I started taking bits like lights etc of my car to start spraying it (only a few bits were removed inside to recarpet it that was all) the heater was working fine I tried it out when I first got the car off my dad and worked until it started the spraying.

I did a few mods inside the dashboard like adding new wiring for speakers and also putting a new stereo in and got that all working fine. So could I of pulled a wire off somewhere maybe?

Also I have checked to see if there are leaves blocking it and it is all clear although the drainage hole in bottom was blocked(hopefully stop wet feet now!!!!) and also checked to see if fan is spinning and it spins fine with what feels like an ever so slight bit of resistance which i guess would be the motor as you'd expect!

Now I can't imagine its just stopped with now warning or anything! The reason I'm sure there maybe more to this is because my dad said he had it on his it stopped working for about 3 months then one day it worked again like it always did and still does now lol

So Could I have done something?

Many thanks
Joe

Hi look for a disconnected earth / ground connection...in the heater circuit there is a cable with a plug interconnector on the end and a brown single loose wire that is the Ground /earth return wire ...also if you removed bolts holding earth / ground circuits and painted the area then you could have insulated the connections.....

Hi Passenger side footwell look up and to your right behind the glovebox and out of the side of the heater box above the centre console a black plastic sleeve with one loose brown wire which should be attached to the bulkhead....other wires in sleeve connect to a plastic interconnector... this is the power feed to the blower motor..the fact that the drain was blocked would indicate that water has pentrated the blower motor and corroded the bearings causing the motor to burn out ...this will blow the fuse when you switch the blower on..the same fuse as the kickdown switch.....

ah well from memory there was a brown wire hanging down in the foot well that i tapped up and cable tied out the way... it wasn't connected to anything at one end!!!!! So it could be that :D

As for the leak the car has always had a drivers foot well leak but i was just hoping lol and the fuse that blows is defenatly the kickdown if I disconnect the heater rear window and just tap the kickdown it blows straight way lol

If water has got in the bearings is there anyway to help this so it doesn't corroed etc?

many thanks :D

Hey again!!!

First of all happy new year!

Right I've had alook under the passenger side and found one wire that's been cut off or sheared off. It is a black wire and can't seem to see where it connects to!

Is this the wire as it dissapears behind the heater box towards the fan. I cannot seem to find a brown lead!

Many thanks

Hi find the wires that come out of the passenger side of the heater box and trace each to where it is attached..if all are connected to the main loom you need a multimeter to check if there is any power coming to the plug the heater wires are connected to..

Right I found the brow one going into side of box and leads connected fine

All the other leads were unplugged as I put in an astra heater (idea from a guy on the forum) the only lead I left on was the power one so I know that one works...

I have plugged the others back on and there's nothing not a glimmer so not sure what to try now :(
