My antenna struggled to go up when it was freezing and covered with ice & snow.
Now it has stopped working?
Is there a seperate fuse for it somewhere(nothing in manual?)
or is it dead:-(
thx

it could simply be frozen, leave it until the weather improves

The aerial is accessed by removing the RH wheel arch lining. It has a relay whichs provides power for a set period of time when the radio is turned on or off. I think that the relay is inside above the panel.
Fault could be either a burnt out motor or broken relay.
You can buy new ones for little money so I wouldn't spend too much time trying to repair this one.

If you can find out the make, MB may supply just a mast that you can re feed back in to the aerial

Probably a Hirschmann unit, the mast may have an H or a 3 or 4 on the button at the top?

I will check against your chassis number later and see if it left the factory with one or not

If not a genuine , you can but an electric antenna for about £35 complete, check the basics that it has power etc, easy to remove the wing liners ( if car is clean)

Re: electrical antenna failure...

Hi Mish

It looks like your G had a factory fitted Hirschmann aerial fitted.

The Hirschmann part number is 821-995-007 if you can find a Hirschmann dealer you may get a cheaper option.

The replacement MB option is in fact £322 + vat and you also need additional items to fit it at extra cost!?!

There is a mast available from MB if thats all you require? Part number is A463 827 00 01 and they are £32.80+ vat.

If you can get away with that i can let you know the replacement procedure, it is very straight forward.

If it has had a replacement complete aerial before it may have had a alternate Hirschmann item fitted from another model?

Masts for these are...

Type 3 B66828035 MBUK

Type 5 B66828036 NLA

Type 4 B66828037 MBUK

WISI    B66828050 NLA

and all are £29.50+vat.

Hope this helps

Re: electrical antenna failure...

Personally - I prefer the short bendy job - no fouling with the open hood, no problem with reception, no freezing up in cold weather. I got mine in halfords for 12.99.

Sniff...
