Re: Ambient temp sensor

Hi the sensor is located behind the front nearside bumper cap...cable runs close to where your recent fire was...

Cool, is it easy to locate and what exactly should I be looking for?

Thanks again

Hi stand in front of your G'.... go to the right hand as you look at it black bumper cap (end of bumper) locate the upper bolt behind the cap attaching the cap to the bumper ..it should be between the head of the bolt and the plastic of the cap..a single wire with metal tip..if not it will be hanging lose in that area....it is connected to the bottom of the instrument cluster with a multi pin connector and receives power from the cluster power supply.....

Re: Ambient temp sensor

Hi, I've now checked the wiring and everything seems OK, well apart from the fact that there was water in the fuse box, but this has now been dealt with. The temp gauge still isn't working though. It still illuminates when the lights are on, but no temp is shown. Does anyone have any suggestions for how what may have happened or how I can find out what's broken? 1991 463 300GE Thanks

Re: Ambient temp sensor

Hi Did you check that it is plugged in at the back of the instrument cluster?..did it ever work since you have had the G' .....if it ceased to work after your bulkhead fire it could be that the thermocouple wire has decayed....check fuse number 28.......
