OK bin the chrome and I have to admit that’s nice :) maybe v nice. I still want a PUR for Christmas though

Oh but it’s still a 30yr old truck so I’d still love to prove how slow it is up against my son’s Peugeot 206 (bendy B roads only allowed though)

Re: Edition 79

the 206 would get no where, i'd gently nudge the back of it into a ditch!

its grown on me this one, but as it was posted on gtspirit between a trio of one of veyrons for the middle east i just saw it as a gimmick firstly

Big presumption there Tom

How would you actually get close enough to do that

Come on somebody try, it'll be a hoot*

*my choice of road remember, just to level things up a little but if you really need to be convinced compare the Top Gear RR Overfinch lap time vs a Fiat 500 Abrath :(

Re: Edition 79

Tom having followed Russ two weeks ago to the Bala session I can testify that the 206 will be driven with a bit of elan down his choice of twisty tight welsh lanes. Russ did have a bit of a hangover and not enought sleep but his 4 wheel drift on partcularly interesting off camber rain soaked double apex bend was interesting and adriotly managed  mind you my smile went a bit wider when 15 seconds later my 2.5t of Rangie did much the same.

A 206 would have just eaten up that bend the penalty of all that weight methinks.

A g500 no problem a G55 interesting but if we are having a wager then my monies still on the Pug...... 8)

Hmmmmmmm - Driver dependant.

IF you have a driver ready to 'hammer down' in the pug - then its no contest, HOWEVER with the right tyres, no wife and kids I wager that the only thing they would see would be the Mercedes Star in their rear view mirror... and the first straight, its would be no contest...... one knows....... One has been there. (although sphincter was twitching like a brown nosed rabbit, blood rushing, copper taste in the mouth and a numb left arm!)

Is this the Joe that was holding up a diesel 300 on the way home from Bala?

Just as well you pulled over in the pub car park or I would have had to reheat my dinner in the microwave

Ready to set the date then Joe, we could put it on Youtube 8)
Just to help you out a little we could start at the pub car park that you pulled over at

Was hoping for someone with a G55 but I guess yours will do

Re: Edition 79

The stainless steel bar under the front bumper i presume comes at huge cost from mercedes/AMG/brabus/ART or something?

Would it look stupid to get a polished stainless steel tube or pipe, which is all it is, bent to shape by your local plumber or exhaust specialist and bracket it on.

It cant be that hard!?

The bar is an Atec Part.

I purchased one for my G last month for £200.00 i didn't think the price was too bad.

If you were to have one made, i think you would stuggle getting the bracketry to mount it ans they are quite "special"

After raising your hopes I’m afraid I’m going to have to pull out of this particular challenge.
Just a little mental arithmetic suggests that it’s waaay too biased in the Pug’s favour. Joe in a straight line drag race you’re going to need nearly 500bhp and you’ve only got 300ish, correct? Ah well boo hoo

However, challenge No2. I’ll use my 1.3 litre CDTI DIESEL Corsa. I was hoping not to as I was edging the average mpg up to 60 and I anticipate this will entail some moderate thrashing (fortunately it’s a lease car so that’s OK) but not much use in preserving the planet
Only fair to give you a chance though

I suppose if you arrange it with Dentsmithy for the same day you could be humiliated in 2 countries on the same day. There must be an ********isum word for that :?

Oh dear is this off topic again

The real questions are, is an old 205 durable enough to out run a G500 ,, can a G500 actually carry enough fuel to out run a 205?

Anyway, Tortoise and Hare. I can see the outcome. 205 & G500, either broken down, run out of fuel or in a ditch. Dentsmithy drives past 5 seconds later in a trusty 240GD wondering what all the fuss is about. :D
