heater motor genius !
Hi All ! , had problem , with heater motor on my 89 280 ge , not working seized motor , got help from other members how to remove motor , many thanks . Ive also got a desiel of same era im restoring so asked my polish mechanic , not a technician like most out there today hes only 26 yrs old , to fix it and unless i saw it with my own eyes i wouldnt have believed it , he removed the fan motors from both and fitted it in the 280ge wired up and it worked done it all within 1 hr 40 mins without removing the dash or any components from it So if anyone has the same problem and lives in essex contact me and will hire him out ! in the meantime ive put him back in the cupboard till i need him again .
If he's that good, make sure he's comfortable in that cupboard, maybe throw him a blanket or 2, a bowl of porridge, gunner be a cold snap next week, and some polish bread, make him feel at home !
Plenty Wodka!
Don't live in Essex so any chance of reveailing how it's done as I'm going to need to do it what with the looming cold snap and all?
did he just remove the spinning part of the motor from the housing?? havent got to sorting mine yet but i'd reckon just cleaning the brushes would get her goin again. also goin to block intake and divert intake from cabin to prevent traffic fumes entering, for when i go to the big city that is! plenty of fresh air in tipperary..
Would be very interested in how this was fixed? .....because my heater motor just squealed, then was ok, then squealed and stopped following a burning smell!! :(
Checked fuse - fine, checked intake for leaves - nothing much, fan blade a little resistance when turned by hand.
Nothing happening with switch??
It sounds like the dash out job unless this magician reveals his secrets??

.....Sounds familiar......
Damn id love to know how this was done!!!
Where abouts in essex I live in Braintree... Maybe it came out front wards (engine way?)
So how did he do it??
Hey!!
I knew it :D Ill try it sometime in the next few weeks and let you all no how it goes :D
Cheers for your help :)

There are 2 spring clips that hold the motor in place. If you can get a small tool between the blades and under the spring clip then the motor will slide out but beware the electrical connections are on short wires.
It might be easier to cut the blades off the old motor to facilitate access.
hey!
Thanks alot :) Are the connections attached to the switch leads or is it more complicated than that? will it be a bugger to wire it back up?

There are 2 spade connectors on the motor frame - you should see them on your new motor - these go to the resistor pack. Unfortunately the leads are quite short and you might find it easier to extend them when putting in the new motor.
ah cheers thanks alot :)
Hi , he removed the heater motor through the air intake under the bonnet , he must be double jointed !
