More knowledgeable on here say "Never"!!
Electronics being the major issue.
Go for an early 5.0 V8......not simple, but doable.
p.s. I happen to have one out of a 500SEC !! Make me an offer (And I'll even throw in the alternator, unlike this guy!!)
run it on a stand alone management system....
go buy ppc magazine for more info!
