Hi!

I've been asked to look for an inhibitor valve by my mechanic (to save money for me lol) and said I need an inhibitor valve buy don't know where to look! Is it the same as an inhibitor switch? Does anyone have any links?

Many thanks
Joe

Re: What's an inhibitor valve?

Hello Gibson,

Do you mean the brake pressure control valve? As fitted to the brake circuit - Could be known as an inhibitor valve in some circles. This is brake pressure control valve reducing brake pressure to the rear axle in any weighted state of vehicle to prevent the rear wheels from locking-up.

This is mounted on the off-side rear of vehicle, underneath the body and in front of the rear axle. Locating is easy; follow the link rod from the diff. housing, going up to a valve body lever.

Other than that, the inhibitor switch is on the automatic gearbox, preventing vehicle starting, in any but, Park and Neutral positions.

Either case it is dealer part only.

Cheers.
