The seal around the sunroof is not there to keep water out, it’s just there to seal the gap and control wind noise.

If you’re lucky its blocked drain holes. There are 2 front 2 rear.

If you’re unlucky (as I am) its more likely the foam seal between the sunroof frame and roof structure. Maybe it’s just the bolts attaching the frame that have loosened off or the seal has deteriorated.

Either way it’s a headlining removal job :(

Mine is sealed with duct tape at the moment. Basically sunroofs on G’s are junk. Stupid idea

I know someone who handed over £1700 to an MB stealer to get this fixed on an E Class

If it's drain holes you don't need to remove the headlining. Just get a wire and pushing it through - but do it GENTLY so you don't puncture the tube or force it to come loose.

Never had a leaking sunroof in 7 years of ownership except due to blocked drains.

There are two cases confirming Russ words. Has been loosened bolts.
Unfortunately you have to remove the headliner to access the bolts.

Just before you start to clean the hoses:
It's simple to test the drain hoses, just poor some water(50ml) to the collector(open the sunroof, it's the area around the opening) and it all must come out under body just behind the front wheels. Presuming the truck isn't tilted too much. If nothing comes out and the water stays on the collector go find some wire...

Re: its here somewhere....sunroof

thought i'd bring this up as im having similar issues with the 190. but my sunroof is also clonking a bit and being stubborn and not wanting to close. i've given the area a good clean out (stones in there?!?!) but still getting water coming through, especially when i go around a corner which leaves me looking like ive wet myself.

any help would be greatly appreciated!
