raised air intake
Hello G men Ive just fitted a raised air intake to my 460 the proper merc one chuffed to bits .Anyway my problem is my friend wants one but he's got a 463 do Merc do one like the 461 model or do we have to look elsewhere ?
I know there is one, Bill Moss has got one on his car. I would PM him to find out. If you do, post it so the rest of us can know as well please.
How did you fit it on the 460. Any pictures of the cutting/pipe routing etc.?
here we go as promised some pictures 1 x unimog intake pipe 3" plastic drain pipe 1 air box and pipe from a land rover :oops: i made a bracket to carry the airbox and of course mine is a turbo so piped slightly differant
I think our 463s will need Snorkles in Wales unless it stops raining!
Got the 461 snorkle for my 460 keep looking at it for the pipe run, thanks for the pics.
Did you manage to fit the pipe to the flange on the snorkle or have you moded it?

Are the pipes easy to source?
I have the snorkel and inner flange , soon ordering the guard/bracketry.
I used an air intake pipe from a u9oo unimog it fits perfectly I thought i would have to reinfore the pipe on the snorkel with a piece of alluminium but its been fine you can see it in the under wing shot there are two sizes from merc I think they are less than twenty pounds and it has the metal banding inside to stop it calapsing ill find out the exact price this week. just a thought the jubilee clips on that pipe are the proper stainless merc ones ill get a price for them at the same time
