Great to see pics, and thanks for sharing. Look forward to seeing the progress!
Keep em coming.
I have this job to do soon so it will be interesting to see.
Are you going for a colour change or are you sticking to original?
are you putting the rubber strips back on,or are you replacing them??
looking good so far. btw, the G looks very tidy as it is.....
its definately the one i had my eye on !
good luck.
good luck mate !
love the enthusıasm....keep the photos coming !
looks good, I like those headlights, where did they come from?
i am envious..! :P
progress looking good mate
mick, go on ebay, and type in mk1 golf clear headlamps buddy..
did they tell you when will they finish? Sooo looking forward to seeing your G in some new clothes!!
Looking more interesting! Brabus running lights are they? I think I know the colour you mentioned. I've seen it on a G and it looked awesome.
What wheels are you putting on the car?
Did you get the steps from ebay? They look pretty much the same as my old ones...
Good wheel/tyre choice, i have those 9.5" amg wheels fitted to my G and they look great!
Love those style of wheels and really considered them for my own car. In the end I opted for the newer style only to be different, but I think the ones you chose look just as good.
Steps look OK. What were you expecting?
The side steps have arrived.....
Hi i've fitted the same to my 300GE in place of the OEM ones using the OEM brackets, as i didn't want to drill new holes. It works, but you'll have to trim the steps by about 2cm as well as the end caps (esp. the one above the exhaust), a good old metal fabrication shop should be able to lend a hand...good luck with the project! just please don't expect to recoup the "investment" when you come to sell one day, this kind of work is best done for the love of the car :)
ps. the original new-style steps can be found on ebay.de...but the reason few people fit them is...well, ~£700.
:D welcome to the club...ppl around us think we're nuts...but they're happy to make money off us of course  hope the mechanicals don't need any work...my 300GE has some "experience" in the mechanical dept if you should need any...
Oh, I wish I could start my 280GE LWB strip out soon .... these pics are driving me impatient to start. Great pics and thanks for the time posting them .....
Tell me about it!
I still have a few parts to source before I do the dirty deed, mainly trim but I really want mine NOW!
Oh well...best things come to those (who suffer)!
guys, i would just like to a share an idea i have on my next project...
source 2 identical sets of recaro seats off ebay, they often come up  renove the front and rear bench seats and fit four recaros instead, obviously retrimmed to taste. having the jump seats in the boot will make the lwb a proper 8 seater and really cool, in my opinion, similar to the swb wolf
I would like to do the very same. The Pur model has 4 seats.
Ford Escort/Fiesta Recaros can be sourced cheaply. Go for BMW/VW if you want heat/electric adjustment. You can buy runners on Ebay.de
Just the bases and flooring that need sorting. Has to be lighter than the OEM folding rear bench. It weighs a quarter of a tonne I am sure :-)
glad you liked the idea...
just dont outbid each other on ebay
btw, my cabrio and shakir's G have the recaros from the rover 600 coupe i think..? cost me £80 i think for the pair.
Rover seats with the tyre tread pattern vary in luxury level. Some have the front pad, heat, lumbar pump etc but they sell cheap from breakers too.
