Are you going for a colour change or are you sticking to original?

Re: Let the Strip Out Commence (updated)

I have sourced all new rubber apart from the one at the top of windscreen.

I have bought the A_R_T stainless trim for the side rubbers.

Re: Let the Strip Out Commence (updated)(again)

the head lamps are from ebay, they are the "angel eyes"

my clear indicators and new lenses should be in today.

Fingers crossed my new rear wheel cover shouls arrive aswell.

Side steps came in yesterday, all im waiting for now are som lighting guards (hopefully new week) and my new rims, they have been ordered but i dont have a delivery date yet.

I have been talked into to a set of BF Goodrich AT 265/65/18's. just need the rims to be delivered and i'll get that bit sorted.

Got the new Personal number plates, got to go over to the DVLA and sit in a massive queue to get them transfered. If I get time I may get that sorted today.

also 2 guys have been working on the G's bodywork for a week now, so i may go to the body shop and check on progress, getting a bit nervous to be honest.

Re: Let the Strip Out Commence (updated)(again)

Im trying not to put pressure on them, i want it mint so i dont mind if they take their time.

realistically i would say about another 10 days.

Hope fully i should get the new wheels before then.

It'll take me a couple of days after that to get all the new gear fitted. an then she will look mint! (hopefully)

Looking more interesting! Brabus running lights are they? I think I know the colour you mentioned. I've seen it on a G and it looked awesome.

What wheels are you putting on the car?

Re: Let the Strip Out Commence (updated)(again)

As Im sure you know, getting any new wheels for G's is really difficult (and expensive).

I have done all sorts of reseach in getting some bespoke wheels made etc but I found nothing that was tastefull.

In the end I opted for a more sensible option. The wheels below fitted with the tyres below.

I think its a happy balance between a little bling, while still keeping the capability of the G in tact.

Yes, but now I look at them, im not sure they what im after. I think I'll wait till the G comes home and offer them up to see how they look.

They may end up back on the bay!

Re: Let the Strip Out Commence (updated)(again)

Love those style of wheels and really considered them for my own car. In the end I opted for the newer style only to be different, but I think the ones you chose look just as good.

Steps look OK. What were you expecting?

Re: Let the Strip Out Commence (updated)(again)

The new style wheels would have put over a grand on the price, and I could not get thetyre i wanted in a 19".

The side steps dont look as good as some of the others ive seen. but i'll make my mind up when the G returns home.

Hi i've fitted the same to my 300GE in place of the OEM ones using the OEM brackets, as i didn't want to drill new holes. It works, but you'll have to trim the steps by about 2cm as well as the end caps (esp. the one above the exhaust), a good old metal fabrication shop should be able to lend a hand...good luck with the project! just please don't expect to recoup the "investment" when you come to sell one day, this kind of work is best done for the love of the car :)

ps. the original new-style steps can be found on ebay.de...but the reason few people fit them is...well, ~£700.

:D welcome to the club...ppl around us think we're nuts...but they're happy to make money off us of course  hope the mechanicals don't need any work...my 300GE has some "experience" in the mechanical dept if you should need any...

Re: Let the Strip Out Commence (updated)(again)

guys, i would just like to a share an idea i have on my next project...

source 2 identical sets of recaro seats off ebay, they often come up  renove the front and rear bench seats and fit four recaros instead, obviously retrimmed to taste. having the jump seats in the boot will make the lwb a proper 8 seater and really cool, in my opinion, similar to the swb wolf

Re: Let the Strip Out Commence (updated)(again)

I would like to do the very same. The Pur model has 4 seats.

Ford Escort/Fiesta Recaros can be sourced cheaply. Go for BMW/VW if you want heat/electric adjustment. You can buy runners on Ebay.de

Just the bases and flooring that need sorting. Has to be lighter than the OEM folding rear bench. It weighs a quarter of a tonne I am sure :-)

Re: Let the Strip Out Commence (updated)(again)

just dont outbid each other on ebay

btw, my cabrio and shakir's G have the recaros from the rover 600 coupe i think..? cost me £80 i think for the pair.

Rover seats with the tyre tread pattern vary in luxury level. Some have the front pad, heat, lumbar pump etc but they sell cheap from breakers too.
