Hi,

Right Fuse 10 on my car keeps blowing (see heater keeps blowing article!) Now I've noticed my automatic has never been right (kickdown etc) and also i could never select 1st gear or turn the rear heaters on. I Looked in the book and it says the heater/rear window heater/Automatic Kickdown/Microswitch 1st gear and relay are all attached to fuse 10!!!

Now obviously this is a problem but I haven't a clue where to start. Ive tried every fuse up to 16amps and still blows but last for a long time (about 20mins) I checked the wires to the heater blower (I installed a new astra mk2 heater) and the wires weren't hot. So can't imagine its that... So I guess I have to work my way through everything that's attached to that fuse> I can do the rear window heater easily by just unplugging the window attachment. Now I run into other problems How do I unattach the gearbox stuff???

Hope someone can help :)

Many thanks
Joe

Re: Fuse 10 help - 280ge

Hi, I pretty interested in the fuse 10 causing the issue with first gear selction? Mine has never seleted first with the lever, I sprayed the mechanism with wd40 and it seems to be loose as it should, also measured the actuator rod length and that is fine. So this could then point at an electrical issue?

How the does this work? if I press the micro swith with my finger while selector is in second it does after a few metres select first??

thoughts anyone? :?: :?:

Hmmm interesting atleast urs doesn't blow after a few seconds haha!

I'm wondering if it could be linked to the inhibitor switch as mines knackered no reverse lights starts In all gears (nearly ran over my Girlfriend when checkingthe reverse lights) after searching for ages I found my inhibitor switch above an exhaust silencer so ain't easy to get to but gonner try replacing it for a new one if I can find a cheap enough one!

Glad I'm not the only one with the war problem!!!'
