knocking sound
When I start up my GE280 there's a knocking sound in the engine that lasts for about 5 mins, after this it seems to be ok. Dos anyone have experience of this and do you think this is due to a faulty oil pump? If so any ideas how much these things are?

knocking or tapping, where abouts is it eminating from, top or bottom, how many miles as it done etc etc etc.
call nd motors at Park Royal on 0208 965 3827 speak to Ian. Take it to them and see how much they charge, they do all my g wagens and all my commercial vehicles and are brilliant and honest. They will service for you as well 32.50 an hr

Thanks for the response, just had it serviced at George Fraser (merc specialist) he says it's the exhaust gases escaping at the manifold as it needs a new gasket. He reckons it will cost me £250 to do this. Sounds like a lot don't you think?
