speedo mystery?

what does the indicated zone on the speedometer between 50 & 60km/h mean???
First I thought it was maximum speed in low gear? But then I noticed that ALL MB had it? G's, estates, auto's, manuals, gas & diesels....
So...what does it mean???

That band on the speedo, represents most economical speed range for driving.
