Help and advise please 1988 230 GES

Local four wheel drive garage has diagnosed a leaking nearside drive shaft seal.

Any hints on the best way to deal with this (do you do the job with diff lock on or off?) and best place for parts.

Thanks in antisipation

Re: Rear drivshaft seal leaking

Hello panzer,

You have not mentioned that, will it be your garage doing the job or you, intend in doing it. Although, not difficult job to do, I would leave it for your garage to do the job, inparticular the rear bearing needs to be pressed on, at least, once, the old one is removed.

The parts might as well be got from M/benz dealer, it is possible to buy the bearing from a bearings dealer/supplier, but you need the numbers from the old bearing in order to match the part, secondly, the seal kit can be only got from M/benz dealer any way.
