Anyone have knowledge of Scorpion Alarms? I believe they were standard dealer fit in the 90’s.

I’ve lost both fob’s (actually while I was in Morocco my mother inlaw cleared through my “junk” ahhhhhhhhhhh)

I was not using the alarm due it occasionally having a mind of it’s own. Now however after I disconnected and reconnected the battery it’s got itself in a complete knot.

I’ve switched it off (or at least that’s what I think I have done) using the key on the actual alarm unit. Now however my central locking won’t operate.

Apart from tracing all the wires and actually removing the unit does anyone have any ideas about resetting it or disabling it but being able to use my central locking?

I really haven’t got much inclination to start tracing wiring and splicing things back together if I can avoid it but I’m thinking that’s where this is heading

Thanks,
Russ

Russ, MBUK fitted scorpion alarms as there optional unit. Mine is probably indentical to yours. When you disconnect the battery it sets off the alarm and actuates the immobiliser. You need the fob to disarm it. It is also linked into the central locking. One press does all.
Scorpian has gone out of business and the fobs are no longer available new. I don't know how you could disconnect it easily other than tracing the wires. The central locking is a factory separate system so you will be able to use that once the alarm is removed.

The power comes from the fuse box and on mine the wiring was obvious because it was a rough job and abviously not factory. The control unit is above the fuse box, easy to see when you remove the glove box

What do mean you used the key on the alarm unit? Can you start your G?

I think the MIL will never be forgiven for this. My wife put one of my Fobs through the washing machine once, then told me 2 days later so the corrosion had started.

Cheers Guys. As Roly states it’s pretty obvious that it’s a dealer fit due to the shoddy install. It would, however, appear that someone else has subsequently bodged it further.

Central locking still playing up which may not actually be related. It now closes on the key or the fob but immediately unlocks on it’s own. Same behaviour as if you have not fully closed one of the doors. Looks like I may have a dodgy door switch which I need to track down. Don’t you just love car electric’s

Hi Russ,

A good mate of mine told me the alarm unit has an internal battery that goes dead. When the vehicles battery is then disconnected then the alarm goes haywire.

I had the same problems as you describe.

I turned off the alarm using the round cut little key. Lock is located inside the rubber cover. My door locking then no longer worked with the fob. But all doors now lock and unlock with the ignition key through the drivers door lock.

I would reckon a total strip out of the Alarm would be the last resort ( I hate vehicle electrics too).

Best of luck.

Regards,

Mike
