Hi Guys

As Im sure you are aware I am a complete newbie when it comes to the G Scene.

I have a G wagen in probably the the worst colour that they were ever produced in (in my opinion - others disagree :) )

It is that perppermint colour, which agin in my opinion does it not justice at all.

I am looking to send it to a company called Paintology (www.paintology.co.uk) in Nottingham.

They are prepared to do a first class job on a respray to any colour I choose, its an expensive process but i think it will be worth it.

Is it good etiquet to keep with the mercedes paint codes, or does it matter what I choose.

I love my G and never plan to sell it - I just want her to have a new outfit:)

Also I am looking to give her some new shoes. however the stud pattern and the offset are giving me a load of dead ends with regard to available manufacturers. Apparently G's have the same arrangements as Porsh Cayenne's and audi Q7's but Im not really keen on going down that route.

has anyone else had the same problem with the wheels and if so, what are my options?

Haha!

I'm going through the same dilemma(s).

The choice of nice wheels for early G models plain sucks!

I've been looking at Porsche Cayenne and Mercedes Sprinter as they are 5x130. The other alternative is adapters and Land Rover wheels.

As for colour - mine is fire engine red and needs a respray.

What to do LOL

If anyone has any pics of available wheels, i'd be great! I have found a company in leicestershire that will drill out blanks and they look fantastic but they come at a price.

look here - www.fowkesauto.com

Re: Whats the done thing with paint?

I have decided on the new colour scheme.

Fanfare please......

It is currently
Beryll Metalic 2c

It will now become...
Meteorgrau Metalic 2c (also off the MB colour charts)

I am really pleased with the colour and the choice of paint shops.

I drop it off on the 6th Novemeber and get it back Five weeks later! FIVE WEEKS! what will I do without her?!?!

Re: Whats the done thing with paint?

Newbie to G's too here.....tho not to MB's, in fact don't even pick up mine for a couple of weeks and I have a long list of things I want to do....some have been answered in other threads....wheel cover for example....but I too am thinking of a respray and I'm not so far from Nottingham.....sooooo I was just wondering how many gezillion squids you might have to part with for a decent paint job?

Thanks

Ian

Mine is costing 3K but that includes some bodywork correction.
I did have quotes from £1200 upto 3K. but i opted for the most expensive and the place with all the right gear and attitude.

If they mess up the paint job, the G will be worthless and I love her!

The company is called Paintology. go there after November the 6th to see them working on mine. their place is impressive and all the staff seem to live for the work they do.

whereabout in east mids you from?

Re: Whats the done thing with paint?

Thanks for that. £3K for a good job is not excessive.

I'm near P'boro.
