Re: Corrosion strikes

hi sav, this isnt common but i am sure there is a fix kit.

my opinion would be to jump in the G and drive it to turkey, have the problem fixed out there for peanuts.i wouldnt be suprised if the part couldnt be fabricated there too

you know what the turks are capable of out there.

Re: Corrosion strikes

This is on your 1996?! Quite extreme, I find German imports sometimes seem to spend time in extreme winter conditions, which if not compensated for, will result in excessive corrosion in a few years.

Re: Corrosion strikes

hus55 - thanks man. i doubt i will get the car to Turkey - at the moment it's worrying enough just driving it to the mechanics! do you know anyone over here you would trust with this job?

M2dxb - yep on the '96... who knows what conditions it faced in it's early years but i guess it's one of those things. Even my mechanic was surprised to see that on 'a merc'. He's looking in to whether there is a part available or whether we'll need to build something up.

I thought it would be good some opinions from the guys on the forum and feed back to him - and also so i know that we're going the right way about things.

*just realised that the post went up twice which was not my intention - one of those internet connection issues*
